Cynthia and her adolescent daughter Jordan run a home psychiatry practice that seems normal to the outside world but behind closed doors, Cynthia has a unique ability. She's a clairvoyant who can mind-meld and can see into another person's consciousness. A practice she keeps very secret and rarely uses as it's not accepted by the general public. When a young girl bursts into their home office claiming an entity is feeding on her, Cynthia is quick to turn her away. They deal in personal trauma, not with whatever is attached to the girl. Jordan, shocked that her mother refused to help, decides to go after the young girl unknowingly putting herself in the path of something far more dangerous than she could ever imagine.
